Beware of the HR Manager's bias!

We urge you, the business owner, to carry out the HRMS health check yourself, rather than delegate it to the head of your HR department to complete, and here’s why. Biases create a situation weighted towards one side. Unconscious biases play a significant role in our behaviours and decision making. Understanding HR Manager biases can help minimise their impact on your business.

  • It is natural for people to resist the notion of change and uncertainty because they are comfortable being familiar with the way things are. This resistance to change can manifest itself as unconscious bias towards the idea or prospect of changing HRMS systems which can affect your HR Manager’s answers.

  • It is natural for your HR Manager to be fearful that an HRMS health check might reveal failings in your current HRMS which might be perceived by you as failings attributable to your HR Manager. This underlying fear can manifest itself as unconscious bias which can affect your HR Manager’s answers.
